Archive for June, 2009

Been working hard for my next solo exhibition which will be held in Sydney late august.

Many cold nights and sunny afternoons in the Blender, Chinese tea and miso soup in a dirty cup is what keeps me alive for now.

Here’s a sneak preview of some of the pieces and my messy studio table.

ACMI SCREENING MELBOURNE INK

Australian Persectives > All tickets $8
Sat 18 Jul 4pm
Melbourne Ink unclassified 15+
Romain Levrault and Julien Sena, Australia, 2009, DV Cam

Melbourne is home to some of the best graffiti artists in the world. Laneways across the city have been encrusted with street
art and they’ve become popular backdrops for wedding photographs, international backpackers, even tourism campaigns.
Furthering the debate are filmmakers Romain Levrault and Julien Sena and their recent snapshot of the current graffiti
landscape with interviews from some of the big names in graffiti and street art: Andrew Chew, Andy Mac, Miso, Ghost Patrol,
HaHa, Drew, Meggs, Reka, Vexta, Phibs and Rone. Presented as part of State of Design Festival, the screening will be
followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers, street and graffiti artists, Gordon Harrison (City of Melbourne), Dr Lachlan
MacDowall (VCA) and other special guests. Then join us at 6pm for the book launch and signing of Kings Way: The Beginnings
of Australian Graffiti, Melbourne 1983 - 1993 in the ACMI Function Space.
Curated by James Nolen as part of Australian Perspectives in collaboration with the State of Design Festival.

Art Fare - Singapore

I’m invited to be apart of an international group show organized by Project Midas in Singapore.

Do check it out if you’re in Singapore.

Below are the details.

Eat this!

House and Project Midas serve up a tasty art exhibition: ART FARE – whetting your dining experience with a side dish of art. The month-long show held at House on Dempsey Hill features works by local, regional and international urban contemporary artists.

Feast your senses with three concept rooms by Satria (Indonesia), Andy Yang (Singapore), Lip (Singapore), Swifty (UK), Jamie Paul (UK), Drew (Melbourne), served by course:

Appetisers
Tuck into a platter of budget-conscious art pieces, at easily digestible prices for the casual or picky palate.

Mains
A menu of heartier, all-original works, to satisfy the art soul or those with the
stomach for it.

Desserts
Eye candy. Featuring quirky objects d’ art, found art and other sweet curios.

//
The Project Midas
Noticing a lack of focused outlets for urban art in Singapore, long-time collectors Ken and Kiat set up Project Midas, Singapore’s first company dedicated to increasing awareness, with the belief that art should not be a vacant portal of display. Project Midas has been relentlessly bringing local and international talents to new audiences, proudly representing only the finest, nothing less.

//
ART FARE at House runs from 5th July – 31st July ‘09. Prices range from $200 - $2000.
